ENG 232 - American Literature II Add to My Favorites ENG 232 - American Literature II 3 Credit Hour(s) This course covers selected works in American literature from 1865 to the present. Emphasis is placed on historical background, cultural context, and literary analysis of selected prose, poetry, and drama. Upon completion, students should be able to interpret, analyze, and respond to literary works in their historical and cultural contexts. Competencies 1. Describe, analyze, interpret, and evaluate features of literary texts in several genres, applying appropriate literary and cultural terms. 2. Critically analyze and interpret American literature from 1865 to the present within historical and cultural contexts. 3. Write critical essays about American literature that integrate primary and secondary sources using MLA documentation and standard academic written conventions. Class Hours: 3
