4 credit hours - One hour of lecture and six hours of studio weekly; one term. Formulate space planning solutions employing wall assemblies, panel systems, and furnishings. Apply building codes such as IBC (International Building Code), ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), IRC (International Residential Code), and NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency) to the designed solutions. Examine plumbing layouts and HVAC for commercial structures. Explore the role of reflected ceiling plans. Design residential kitchens and bathrooms following NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association) guidelines. Review a critical body of knowledge for individuals seeking NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) certification. Lab fee $20.
