ACH223 — History of American Architecture

3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. An introduction to the development of American architecture, interior design, urban design and landscape architecture from pre-colonial times to the present. Particular attention will be paid to the old and new world sources of American design, as well as to the cultural, political, economic and environmental forces that have shaped the American built environment. Lectures and discussions will be supplemented by field trips. No previous art courses are necessary.
