ART213 — History of Graphic Design

3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. Study the global development of graphic design and typography, from its early history to the present, including its origins in the history of written language to its digital flourishing in contemporary culture and society. Explore the contributions of significant graphic designers, art movements, culture, and the impact of changing technologies on graphic design and typography. Class discussions are supplemented by trips to museums in the Baltimore-Washington area. Lab fee $8.
