DHY114 — Periodontology

2 credit hours - Two hours of lecture weekly; one term. Describe the anatomy of the periodontium and the etiology of periodontal disease. Classify patients based on periodontal criteria and identify optimal strategies to reverse periodontitis. Describe procedures to complete periodontal evaluation for all classifications, identify best options for treatment, develop a treatment plan, review systemic health conditions, discuss prevention strategies, conduct risk assessment, and identify the use and implementation of different home care aids. Describe how to assess and consider the patient’s beliefs and personal opinions on oral health, and provide patient education using clear and effective communication. Course
