ENG226H — Ethnic American Literature - Honors

3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. This is an honors course. This course meets the Arts & Humanities General Education Requirement. This course meets the Diversity Requirement. Explore ethnicity and its relationship to race, culture, and religion. Study ethnic literatures of the United States, including readings from African American, Latino/Latina, Asian American, Native American, Arab American, and Jewish American literatures. Read poetry, fiction, non-fiction and drama by ethnic American writers and discuss these works in their literary and historical contexts, including the social and political circumstances out of which they arise. Crosslisted: Also as ENG 226 ; credit is not given for both ENG 226H and ENG 226 . Note: Complete and present an honors capstone research project that extends beyond the classroom.
