GEO242 — Foundations of Cartographic Design

3 credit hours - Two hours of lecture and one hour of lab weekly; one term Produce digital and hardcopy maps through applying concepts and theories of Cartography, the art and science of map-making. Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other technologies, learn how to make effective maps and data visualizations for a variety of audiences and purposes. Gain an awareness of the historical and contemporary relationship between maps and society while developing customized visualizations of human and environmental phenomena. Note: Students are recommended to take GEO 240 prior to or concurrently with GEO 242. Course
