GSS211 — Gender and Mass Media in the United States

3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. This course meets the Diversity Requirement. Learn principles of contemporary mass media scholarship. Examine how media creates and perpetuates constructions of masculinity and femininity and how these constructions relate to race, ethnicity, class, sexuality and other variables of difference. Explore the political economy of media production, the relationship between media and ideology and audience reception.
