MUS262 — World Music: Music as Culture
3 credit hours - Three hours weekly, one term. This course meets the Arts & Humanities General Education Requirement. This course meets the Diversity Requirement. Use music as an entry into a variety of cultures, social classes and populations. The course introduces students to experiences, perspectives and values different from those found among the dominant populations of the United States and western Europe. Materials will be drawn from traditions throughout the globe to illustrate issues of historical and contemporary significance, including the impact of race, class and gender on music.
