MORTUARY SCIENCE
curriculum meets the general education requirements of most certified mortuary science programs. Requirements for licensure in the field of mortuary science vary from state to state. To obtain a Kansas embalmer’s license, you must complete an associate degree in mortuary science, pass a national board exam, and serve a one-year apprenticeship after passing the exam. To obtain a Kansas Funeral Director license, you must complete 60 semester hours of college course work (20 of which are defined by the state board), service a one-year apprenticeship, and then pass a state board exam.
