MAST204L — Clinical Care
This course offers the medical assistant student the opportunity to learn basic clinical theory and hands-on skills. Areas covered include principals of asepsis including sterilization, infection control, blood borne pathogens, emergency/first aid procedures, skills for interviewing patients, taking a medical history, patient charts and documentation, vital signs, measurements, physical examination, specialty examinations, nutrition and assisting with minor surgeries including identification of surgical instruments. Emphasis is placed on hands-on learning of skills related to the clinical theory including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, height, weight, and pain level.
