RADT150 — Radiologic Foundations I

Reinforcing and building on the knowledge and skills developed in the Healthcare Foundations courses, students will deepen their understanding of clinical theory and expand practice competency to include skills related to the diagnostic imaging field. Instruction will focus on patient care and safety, medication administration, equipment operation, and basic radiation safety. Students will learn the basic body planes and positions, nomenclature, and positioning landmarks. Students will learn the basics of equipment operation. Course content includes the history of phlebotomy, basic anatomy and physiology, infection control, specimen collection, various venipuncture techniques, dermal punctures, venipuncture complications, point-of-care testing, legal issues, and special non-blood specimen collection techniques. Prerequisite(s): CAHS 115 - Healthcare Foundations II Must be enrolled in Med Ed High School program
