ENG 330 — Banned Books & Censorship

3 credits · 3 hours

This course investigates the issues of censorship and free speech from multiple perspectives by reading and analyzing various genres of banned literature. In the process, students clarify their own ideas and thoughts about such issues as the role of literature in society, the separation of church and state, the freedom of the press, children’s rights, and what limits there ought to be, if any, on the freedom to read and who, if anyone, is authorized to set them.
