BIO 230 — Seminar in Scientific Literature and Research Design

3 credits · 3 hours

Student will learn to locate, read, and interpret peer-reviewed science journal articles. They will examine the characteristics that distinguish quality research in the biological sciences, and write a review paper related to a topic of their choosing. Students will then delve further into aspects of experimental design, culminating in the production of a research proposal related to their topic of choice. Prerequisite: BIO 121. Three lecture hours per week. Instructional Support Fee applies. Gen. Ed. Competencies Met: Scientific Reasoning and Discovery.
