EDU 51 — Working With Infants & Toddler
This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop an understanding of the ways in which infants and toddlers relate to the people around them and their environments. Students will acquire foundational tools and knowledge of developmental factors specific to infants and toddlers and how these factors influence the way in which teacher assistants/teachers work with these age groups. The course will be framed by the interaction of multicultural elements such as: socio-political environment, socio-economic class, family setting, culture, religious beliefs, emotional, physical and psychological dispositions, and educational influences that shape a young child's life. Through 12 hours of fieldwork observations, students will reflect upon how children make contextual meaning of their world as they grow and develop.
