IART206 — Arts of the Pacific
This course will focus on the traditional arts of the Pacific including the island groups of Polynesia, Melanesia, and Micronesia. The arts of Pacific peoples were integrally entwined into their cultural whole. As such, this course is based on thematic aspects of art and culture. Subsequently a foundation will be constructed with discussions centred upon the social organization, belief systems, economics, and the aesthetics of Pacific peoples.
