This Unit is designed to look at Physiology for candidates progressing to or part of first year of a variety of Health related professions including Nursing. Physiology takes a wide view of the body exploring the way that the cells, organs and systems work together to provide normal functioning of the healthy person. This will allow subsequent teaching to introduce an understanding of disease processes. Physiology deals with the way that various systems of the body work to produce the activities we describe as living. The interaction between the systems and the way the activities are adjusted to keep the body functioning as well as possible, assist the patient to make the most of the bodies natural ability to cope with change. The body is normally in a state of balance and the study of physiology assists with the understanding of how the balance is maintained. COURSE RUNS OVER 2 BLOCKS/SEMESTERS
