IENG250 — Studies in Genres & Histories
This course will include a study of the novel, of journalism, of poetry, of biography and of the philosophical essay. Lectures on fiction will include a survey of the antecedents of the English novel. There will be a concentration on a variety of modes of writing practised in London during the 18th century and of the interaction between these literary forms and the enlightenment.
