IHIS158 — Dialogue: Conflict & Peace
THis seminar style course has been introduced in response to September 11,2001, the following war in Afghanistan, and the questions that this has raised around the world. In an international setting, we want to exlpore how a "dialogue of cultures" can replace a "clash of civilizations". The course will look at the converging perspectives of history, religion, politics and national interests. international law and institutional cooperation, to analyze how conflict emerge and how they could potentially be dissolved Case studies will include the former Soviet Union, the Balkans, the Middle East, and the "War Against Terrorism".
