ILIT106 — New Zealand Literature

Introduces the literature of this country in the context of the disciplines, habits, techniques and vocabulary of literary study. The course examines texts of the late colonial period (1890-1930) and three aspects of the postcolonial era: the male- dominated foundation period of cultural nationalism (1930-75), the rise of women's writing, and Polynesian writing in the last twenty five years.
