This course introduces you to some of ancient Eastern philosophy, enabling you to understand and discuss some of the major ideas concerning the meaning of the cosmos and the nature of human life that have emerged from kAsian traditions, and to examine the impact these ideas have had on the Western mind. The first part of the course examines the major schools of Eastern Philosphy: Buddhism (including Zen), HInduism (including yoga Taoism, and Confucianism. The second part of the course investigates the ways in which these ideas have influenced western thinking.
