Examines concepts of the state and the individual. This unit firstly examines and analyzes one theory of the State. The following theorists can be considered for examination: Plato; Aristotle; Hobbes; Machiavelli; Lenin. Two theories of social contract are then examined. The following theorists will be considered: John Locke and Thomas Hobbes. Finally one theory of political representation is analyzed from the following list Liberal Democracy; Pluralism; Elite Theory; Democractic Centralism.
