This course provides an overview of the many facets of public health, including historical perspectives, communicable disease, epidemiology, health policy, environmental health, emergency preparedness, and social and behavioral aspects of health across the life span. It will describe the public health infrastructure, delivery of services at the local, state and national levels, and the core competencies for public health professionals in relationship to social, economic, cultural, psychological and political factors.
