ADN 110 - Introduction to Professional Nursing ADN 110 - Introduction to Professional Nursing This course will present concepts that directly relate to psycho-social domains that impact patient health and well-being as well as concepts that directly relate to professional nursing and its impact on patient health and well-being. Students will have opportunities to explore personal and professional boundaries and examine their own beliefs and values. Basic theories of interpersonal communication to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and the interdisciplinary healthcare team is emphasized. Students will examine and address the effect of diversity, equity and inclusion on patient centered care. Recognize the impact of diversity on health beliefs, health practices, and patient care. Identify therapeutic communication skills to deliver safe, supportive care and patient teaching to patients and families. Develop evidence-based teaching plans appropriate to nursing care. Relate principles of patient safety, quality of care, health care technology, and patient advocacy to professional nursing practice.
