ECE 255 - Special Topics in ECE ECE 255 - Special Topics in ECE This course is based on the particular needs of early childhood students and/or community. A forum will be provided for early childhood professionals to share their unique knowledge and skills with students. Recent topics have included: Infant and Toddler Language and Literacy Development and; Autism. Other topics are: Sensory Integration Dysfunction; Gifted Children; Gender Issues in Early Childhood Education; Health and Safety in Early Childhood Settings as well as; Anti-Bias and Multicultural Education. Discuss the relevance of the special topic to the field of early childhood education via class discussions, written assignments and presentations. Demonstrate knowledge in the specified content area via class discussions, written assignments and presentations. Differentiate the significance of the special topic in teaching young children via class discussions, written assignments and presentations. Create a project that applies the special topic to an early childhood setting. Critique contrasting perspectives on the special topic via class discussions, written assignments and presentations.
