HIT 204 - ICD-10 Coding HIT 204 - ICD-10 Coding This course covers principles of ICD-10-CM & ICD-10-PCS coding, application of the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, documentation analysis, Complication/Comorbidity (CCs), Major Complication/Comorbidity (MCCs), Hospital-Acquired Condition (HACs), and Present on Admission (POA) indicator assignment, Diagnostic-Related Group (DRG) impact, and pattern recognition in coded data. Integrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and body system functions to support accurate code assignment. Assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes, CCs, MCCs, HACs, and POA indicators using clinical documentation and regulatory guidelines. Identify and assign principal and secondary diagnoses using Uniform Hospital Discharge Data Set (UHDDS) definitions. Assign ICD-10-PCS codes using root operations and coding guidelines. Compute MS-DRGs and evaluate the impact of coding decisions on reimbursement. Analyze coded data for trends, patterns, and potential errors.
