HIT 240 - Pathophysiology & Pharmacology HIT 240 - Pathophysiology & Pharmacology This course covers disease processes, diagnostic methods, evidence-based treatment strategies and foundational pharmacology including drug classifications, mechanisms, side effects, contraindications, and the use of the scientific method during the process of drug development, throughout the phases of clinical trials, and FDA approval. Explain diagnostic procedures and clinical processes used to determine disease pathology and accurate diagnoses. Apply evidence-based information to evaluate treatment options and therapeutic interventions. Identify commonly prescribed medications, drug indications, contraindications, and side effects. Explain how scientific reasoning and the scientific method (including observation, hypothesis development, measurement, and data collection, experimentation, evaluation of evidence, and employment of data analysis to guide drug development, clinical trials, and FDA approval). Analyze clinical scenarios and apply problem solving skills to support clinical decision-making. Communicate pathophysiologic and pharmacologic information using clear, evidence-based explanations, proper grammar, and citations.
