PED 113 - Lifeguard Training PED 113 - Lifeguard Training Provides the necessary minimum skills to become certified as a lifeguard by the American Red Cross. Introduction to lifeguard procedures, supervision, rescue techniques, swimming skills, facilities, and spinal injury management. Provides practice of water skills, rescue techniques, swimming speed and conditioning. For lifeguard certification by the American Red Cross, students must meet skill and time requirements and pass a written final exam. object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards to the starting point with the object. Note: Adult CPR and standard first-aid are additional requirements for certification by the American Red Cross and are not included in this course.
