PTA 135 - Neuromuscular Pathologies PTA 135 - Neuromuscular Pathologies In this course the students will study neuroanatomy as it applies to the peripheral nervous system and central nervous system. They will discuss and apply neurological rehabilitation and management techniques and theories. Students will learn motor development across the life span, and theories of motor control and motor learning as applied to the rehabilitation process of neurologically impaired human beings. Perform interventions and data collection related to the rehabilitation of patients with central and peripheral nervous system pathologies in a safe and competent manner, within the scope of practice of the PTA and the plan of care established by the physical therapist. Demonstrate professional therapeutic communication with patients from the point of establishing rapport, obtaining patient status information, and while communicating instruction and education to patients while providing treatment. Appropriately recognize and report changes in patient status and adjust or discontinue therapeutic exercise within the plan of care of the physical therapist based on surrogate patient verbal and non-verbal responses during case scenario application. Demonstrate accurate, clear, concise written documentation and billing code recognition related to case study scenario application.
