LIT-241 — Supernatural & Horror Literature

This course will analyze short and long works that deal with a variety of aspects of the supernatural. Students will read both classic and contemporary works by authors such as Bram Stoker, Robert Bloch, Ira Levin, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelly, Henry James, Edgar Allen Poe, Stephen King, Shirley Jackson, and H.P. Lovecraft. The course explores the metaphorical roles that belief in and interest about the supernatural play in our culture and in our lives.
