MIG-105 — Ultrasound Physics and Instrumentation

This course provides students with the theory of ultrasound physics and instrumentation. Topics will include the characteristics of sound waves and the way in which ultrasound is utilized in imaging. Propagation of sound, attentuation and acoustic impedance as well as reflection and scattering will be discussed. Ultrasound equipment components, including transducer construction and recording devices will be covered in great detail. Doppler principles including color Doppler will be examined. Gen. Ed.
