VMA-118 — Elements of Time

This course is a time-based foundation studio course that focuses on critical thinking skills in the form of time and experience. The conceptual and experimental approach of this course enables students to develop the basic vocabulary, concepts, tools and principles used by artist and designers who create time-based multimedia projects. Students will critically evaluate and utilize time as narrative and an essential element through projects in audio, video, installation and live performance. These assignments will culminate in a self-directed project that promotes inquiry and can shape the viewers’ perceptions of artifacts, light, movement, time and space. Gen. Ed.
