MUSC 190 - Special Topics in Music 1 MUSC 190 - Special Topics in Music 1 Total Hours: 45 How does music shape our lives and our cultures? Do our lives have their own soundtrack? Through the lens of traditional and popular music, students will research selected musical genres and related performing arts topics through lecture, listening, demonstration, topic analysis and research, and their own performance practice. Students will learn how selected music(s) or performing arts can impact personal performance as well as have indirect impacts on society. Students will be introduced to timely topics that address a greater diversity of arts and culture through the study of music beyond an exclusive Western European cultural lens. The course may feature presentations by guest lecturers and site visits. Musical knowledge is an asset but is not required. Love of music is a definite asset.
