Review the history of corrections and the various forms of criminal sanctions at the federal, state, and local levels. This course is for law enforcement personnel who have completed or are enrolled in a certified police academy. This course is open to Law Enforcement Academy students only. (All Terms) Three hours lecture each week. Three Credits. Three billable hours. Describe the process of justice from arrest to release. Describe the various alternatives to imprisonment. Identify the differences in correctional facilities at the various levels of government. Identify the tasks and functions of custody. Describe the various methods of managing and treating offenders. Identify the problems associated with juvenile and special category offenders. Identify the rights of prisoners. Describe the various methods available to reintegrate offenders into society.
