This course introduces the student to the field of general well-being, safety, nutrition, and first aid as it applies to young children. The course underscores the relationship of maternal diet/health to the health of the infant. The effects of nutrients on growth and development are examined. Childhood diseases and symptoms are investigated. The model early childhood program is examined in terms of balanced menus, health practices, and safety precautions. Credit by examination available.
