CHEM 2440 - Organic Chemistry II CHEM 2440 - Organic Chemistry II (3L, 2LB) One problem class per week. A continuation of CHEM 2420. Topics covered are spectroscopy (mass spectrometry, infrared, ultraviolet, and nuclear magnetic resonance) haloalkanes, alcohols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, and their derivatives, phenols, carbohydrates, polymers, and natural products. Includes laboratory instruction in detailed synthetic preparations and spectral and chemical analysis of the products.
