ELAP 1600 - Union Electrical Apprentice X ELAP 1600 - Union Electrical Apprentice X (6L) Casper College partners with the Wyoming Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (WJATC) to provide extensive training designed to complement on-the-job training received by electrical apprentices. Classes meet several times a year for a week at a time over the 4-year apprenticeship program duration. The combination of course work and training prepare an apprentice electrician to take the journeyman electrician exam administered by the State of Wyoming Department of Fire and Electrical Safety. Course ELAP 1600 is a fourth year course scheduled for completion during the spring semester. This course is designed to provide the beginning electrical apprentice the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure safe and efficient work practices on the job. Topics of study include: safety, introductions to the National Electrical Code, basic electrical theory and wiring methods. This class will also include code calculations, applied codeology and information about the journeyman examination.
