ENGL 1285 — - Women and Literature
This course will serve as an introduction to literature by and about women, focusing on women’s diverse experiences and backgrounds. We will explore the relationship between women’s social status and their representation in literature. The course may cover specific historical periods, different cultural groups, and particular genres. Lecture: 3 hours Course completes the following requirements: Written Communication Diverse Perspectives Humanities Requirement Literature Requirement URI/RIC Transfer General Education Transfer Opportunity: Yes ENGL 1300 - Composition I for Speakers of English as a Second Language (ESL) (6 Credits) Students perfect their academic writing skills through a sequence of essay assignments, including a research project, with emphasis on rhetorical and grammatical issues particular to ESL. Students completing this course may take ENGL 1005 or 1010 as a follow-up course for elective credit as recommended by the instructor.
