MUSC 2040 — - Applied Music: Jazz-Rock Arranging

This course is designed to introduce students to the skills required for arranging in the jazz and jazz-rock idioms. Topics include instrumental characteristics, writing for winds and rhythm sections, multi-part writing and analysis of works by significant arrangers. Student projects include the preparation of two arrangements for jazz ensemble. Prerequisite(s): MUSC 1800 and MUSC 1810
