BIO 181 — Biotechnology Lecture

Biotechnology encompasses a wide range of processes for modifying living organisms or their products for human gain. This exploitation of biological techniques has rapidly taken over health care, agriculture, industrial and environmental developments. The discipline generally is based on recent advances in DNA technology but has been prominent in history in many fields and experimentations from food production to animal and plant breeding programs. Applications of various technologies within genetics, microbiology, immunology, and cell biology are emphasized in the course. Corequisite BIO 182.
