GIST 1200 — Geospatial Foundations
This course provides an overview of the role of geographic information science, maps, and technology in contemporary geospatial problem solving. Major topics include the foundations and applications of geographic information systems (GIS), global positioning systems (GPS), and remote sensing (RS). The course will involve the application of geospatial concepts, including coordinate systems and map projections, introductory mapping skills, and societal applications of geospatial technologies. Prerequisites: Completion of or test into or higher. (3 lect. 3 lab) LSCI
