AIR CON 159 — Industrial Cooling and Refrigeration

This course introduces students to industrial cooling and refrigeration systems, emphasizing HVAC fundamentals, refrigeration cycles, system components, refrigerant handling, thermodynamics, and safety. Students will learn installation, service, and maintenance procedures for commercial and industrial systems. Key topics include the refrigeration cycle, compressors, evaporators, condensers, metering devices, system charging and evacuation, airflow and ventilation, and EPA-compliant refrigerant recovery. The course includes hands-on lab assignments and prepares students for the EPA Section 608 certification. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course.
