BIOTECH 230 — Molecular Biology Techniques
The course covers basic concepts in molecular biology. The course will emphasize “classical” molecular biology techniques (DNA extraction, Gel electrophoresis, restriction enzyme analysis, cloning, Southern blotting and Western blotting). The course will also cover Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), bioinformatics, and will explore applications that are used to view and analyze the structure of DNA and proteins. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course.
