CHLD DV 248 — Principles & Practice of Infant & Toddler Care
This course provides opportunities to plan for developmentally appropriate, evidence-based, and culturally responsive care and education for young children, from birth to age three, using a comprehensive framework of best practices, historical and philosophical underpinnings, personal reflections, and environmental design strategies. Emphasis is placed on the importance of building positive, reciprocal relationships and creating an environment conducive to exploration and play to support the physical, socioemotional, cognitive, language, including plurilingual learning and development of infants and toddlers. This course focuses on the student developing professionally within the Early Childhood Education field, with an emphasis on ethical conduct specific to infant and toddler care. This course requires ten observation hours in an infant, toddler early childhood setting. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course.
