DENTHYG 120 — Intro to Periodontics
This course introduces the study of periodontology with emphasis on the anatomy, histology, and physiology of the periodontium. Students will explore the etiology and classification of periodontal diseases, including the role of biofilm, local and systemic contributing factors, and host response. Preventive and non-surgical treatment principles are emphasized to support evidence-based decision-making in dental hygiene. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course.
