This course builds upon foundational knowledge from DH 120 Intro to Periodontics, focusing on the diagnosis, treatment and management of periodontal diseases and implants. Students will study advanced instrumentation techniques, periodontal maintenance procedures, and the role of the dental hygienist in collaborative periodontal therapy. Emphasis is placed on case-based learning, clinical application and current research in periodontal care. Surgical and regenerative concepts are discussed to prepare students for effective communication and coordination with the dental team. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course.
