EMT 227 — Paramedic Medicine Field Internship
EMS 227 is the capstone course in the EMT-P program offering supervised ride time with an approved preceptor on an ALS Chicago Fire Department Ambulance. This class provides the opportunity for each student to integrate knowledge, clinical practice, critical thinking/judgment and the ability to serve as a team leader in a variety of pre-hospital emergency situations throughout the city of Chicago. In conjunction with this direct patient care opportunity, students will participate in weekly seminars, which is a group learning opportunity designed to integrate their pre-hospital field learning experiences with critical medical content previously mastered in EMT-P 212, 222, 213 and 224. Written assignments (including Run Reviews and Patient Care Reports), as well as documentation of practiced clinical skills in the pre-hospital environment are required.
