NURSING 158 — Nursing Thru Life Span II
This course focuses on meeting the basic physiological, psychosocial, cultural developmental needs of the maternal and newborn. Course content includes antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care, complications of pregnancy, newborn care and complication alterations. Nutrition, pharmacology, cultural diversity, use of technology, and communication are addressed. Preventive, supportive and therapeutic care is learned in class, lab and clinical settings. Students are expected to demonstrate professional growth and to function within the provisions of the most current Illinois Nurse Practice Act. Theoretical concepts are consistent with the skills standards developed for the State of Illinois. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course.
