Total credits required for a Certificate of Achievement in Emergency Medical Technician—Basic ................................11 CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT IN EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN - INTERMEDIATE*^ (6 CREDITS) The Certificate of Achievement in Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate trains students to provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. Students are eligible to test with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians upon completion. Admission Process for EMS/Intermediate and Paramedic Applicants Applicants for the EMT Intermediate and EMT Paramedic programs must complete an application packet for admission. Applications are available online and in the Office of Admissions and Records. Application must be submitted by posted deadline . *Achievement of this certificate is only possible through full-time enrollment in the EMT-Intermediate courses. ^All courses must be completed with a 75% or higher.
