EARC 196 — Trauma Informed Classroom Practices
This course is designed to prepare students with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively teach young children who have undergone traumatic experiences. Students will be able to identify indicators of trauma in young children and gain insight into how trauma can impact both brain development and behavior within the classroom. They will be equipped with practical, actionable strategies that are rooted in trauma-informed practices, enabling them to create a supportive and nurturing classroom environment for young children who have experienced trauma. This class will explore different varieties of trauma, including physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, neglect, grief, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), and adverse childhood experiences
